[03/12/2009]  On two occasions over the last twelve months I needed critical programming modifications to my AIA G702 & G703 output. I was given immediate access to the programmer who worked with me until the matter was resolved. I don't know any place else where you can get support like that.... Permanent and professional looking enhancements were made to the program which I was quickly and easily able to down load (5 minutes) and start using. These guys are great!

The direction on who to configure QuickBooks to make connections was easily explained in the guide and had up and working in no time at all. Great product would recommend to anyone that has to submit AIA documentation for billing purposes.

[01/08/2008]  The AIA software developed by Sunburst Software Solutions is a must for any contractor or subcontractor that uses QuickBooks and has to produce G702 / G703 applications for payment. What once used to be the arduous task of preparing AIA payment applications has been simplified to a few clicks of the mouse. Their customer service and online training videos are first class, and I highly recommend the small investment.

An Excellent Solution

[01/26/2006]  We work with Owners, Developers, large and small G.C.'s, all having different versions of their own pay applications. After months of hand writing and calculating each individual pay app, we looked for a solution that would integrate with QuickBooks or at least pull from QuickBooks so we could be sure our invoices matched our pay apps. After looking on the QuickBooks site I called CAPS and spoke with Nancy about our situation. She assured me that our transition would be smooth and she would support us if need be. Our file is rather large (approx. 142 Meg’s) and Nancy walked us through a re-build of our file and after that the CAPS system has delivered as promised. No more hand written pay apps, checking and re-checking calculations, problems with carrying over numbers from last months pay app, retention, lien releases and much, much more, CAPS works. It is as simple as that!

[11/30/2005]  If you are doing public work and need to submit Applications for Payment, CAPS by Sunburst is the ticket. This program works hand in hand with QuickBooks. You can print right onto a AIA Document G702 from the program. Your contract sums, change orders and retainage are pulled right in from QuickBooks. The installation and setup of the program was very easy. The challenge is having your QuickBooks setup correctly. That is where Sunburst Software Support really comes into play. Sunburst was there to help me make adjustments in QuickBooks, which gives CAPS the information to pull into it and make the perfect payment application. This program makes a small contractor like myself look professional. Big bonus for me is that I have QuickBooks setup even better thanks to Sunburst Support.

[11/07/2005]  Before I found out about CAPS (construction application for payment solution) I was using the old typing each form system. A woman from another construction company told me about it and I actually bought it and started using it before she did. I feel that it saves a lot of time. It is much more user friendly then when I first got it. They only issue I have with it is more to do with the way this office is run. Change orders are sent the same day rather than before hand and when a change order is rejected it is hard to remove it but I can work around that. For the most part I feel that it is a very good product and I would recommend it to anyone although I must admit I have not tried any other programs.

[05/20/2005]  I've used QuickBooks for 10 years and I love what computers can do for you. A year and a half ago, when I had an interview for a new job (for my current position as Controller at a commercial subcontracting company) in which they talked about AIA billings. I had no idea what AIA billings were, so I researched them in conjunction QuickBooks and found CAPS. (When I wrote my letter of thanks for the interview, I included what I found out about CAPS, and how it automated the AIA process. I was called back for another interview and got the job!!!) We've now been using the Certified Pay Application (CAPS) software for nearly a year and it has SAVED countless hours of time, but the bigger issue is that it eliminates the errors of putting in the wrong numbers completely! (And, I don't have to manually type the forms anymore to make them look professional either). Most times, when an AIA pay application is wrong, we have to wait another month to rebill the entire thing. That can mean I have to wait another 30days to get my $100k that I need to pay the bills. A huge thing about Sunburst Software is they'll make changes in their software to make things easier on us. In our area, we have many contractors now wanting pay aps. on the AIA G702CMa form (the one with the red print). Sunburst adjusted the software to be able to print "directly" on to these forms! And it was done before my next set of pay aps were due!! The people at Sunburst are great and the software is great. Do yourself a favor and get it ordered now.

[05/05/2005]  We have just completed the installation of QuickBooks Premier Contractor Edition and CAPS at our firm which does subcontract excavation and grading work for several general contractors. The installation of the software and generation of our first bills using the AIA template took less than 30 minutes! The documentation is very clear and specific -- it made what we thought would be a complicated process very simple. During our first few weeks of using the software, we found it necessary to contact the company with questions and had our calls answered by the second ring (by the principals in the company) who provided straightforward answers (not always what we wanted to hear, but honest) which got us going in no time at all. After struggling with our QuickBooks implementation and the lack of support (even though we have a support plan), working with the folks at Sunburst has been a pleasure. And, the software does what they advertise.

[04/27/2004]  As our company grows, our computer software is growing too. Last year we purchased from Sunburst Software the Application for Payment program. It has been a great investment and has "simplified our billing process". Previously we processed Payment Applications in a separate computer program and then transferred the sales to QuickBooks. Now with one step we enter our payment application in QuickBooks and print out the application for payment in Sunburst Software's program. It also keeps track of the retainage. It's that simple. This program was easy to install and learn. During the process of learning I have made phone calls to Sunburst Software and was instructed how to correct or solve my questions. There technical support has been very good. Purchasing this program has made my job more efficient, fast, and easy. I would highly recommend this software to other businesses. Great program backed by even greater people!

[01/22/2004]  I started using CAPS in about March of 2003. Setup of the program was clearly detailed in the included instructions. Even so, I stumbled a little in the setup but found the vendor more than capable and willing to get me through setup. Once that was completed and I made a few minor changes in how I prepare invoices in QuickBooks the two programs seem to get along quite well. I can now prepare professional looking G702 & 703 documents in a very short amount of time and CAPS and QuickBooks keep track of previously billed quantities making the preparation of next month's billing a breeze.

One added benefit is the quantity of QuickBooks setup information that is included in the CAPS HELP menu...following some of the suggestions found there have made my AR reporting much more complete and easier to understand.

All in all, if you use QuickBooks and need to generate more than one Pay Application per month this program is well worth the investment.

Best, Inexpensive AIA Billing Solution with Excellent Customer Service

[01/25/2003]  Words cannot express how much Sunburst Software has made my life easier. I researched other construction accounting software packages that cost as much as $7000. I purchased QuickBooks Premier 2002 along with Sunburst Software's CAP's billing program. The marriage of the two is the best solution to construction accounting needs. My cost, total, was less than $600. That is a savings of over $6,400. A small price to pay for such a robust package. With the click of a mouse, your progress invoice is brought into CAPS with all the appropriate line items, percentages, retainage and stored materials all appropriately billed. What used to take me an hour with a spreadsheet, now only takes me 2 minutes. Thank you Sunburst!!!

[08/29/2002]  The Construction Application for Payment Solutions has been a real time saver for my company. Prior to the software, we would have to manually calculate all applications for payment and then hand type them. With the software, I just have to put in the % of completion of each item and it automatically calculates my draw request, even retainage, and everything is integrated with my QuickBooks program. It performs what other much more expensive programs do and it works with your QuickBooks. I do not know how I managed without it.

[07/23/2002]  After receiving Construction Application for Payment Solution's software, I was very impressed to see that the program was very user friendly. It was exactly what I need to process the AIA forms for my company. We are a General Contractor as well as a Developer, so this software was very useful in all aspects of our business. It works extremely well with QuickBooks and it makes my job so much easier. The forms are very clean and clear and easy to read. I just have them signed and notarized and send to the bank. It’s just that easy! The software was a great asset to the QuickBooks program in that it helped me set up my construction companies (We have 7 companies) and answered all my questions that were not available in the QuickBooks help guides. QuickBooks is very general in their fields of business and my needs were more specific to the construction industry, so the Sunburst program helped me in many ways that I found QuickBooks didn't. The staff at Sunburst should also be commended. They are always ready to help in any way I need it and answered all my questions and even had suggestions on how to improve my program. I can not say enough good things about this company, their software programs and the people. I would highly recommend this software to anyone who is in the construction industry and has a need for the AIA forms and/or Certified Payroll.
