[10/27/2009]  We have been using ESC for 4 years. Their newest version (9.1) makes great claims, but it seems as though no real strides were made to improve much needed features. Techs still cannot place separate notes on a per ticket basis, inventory is tedious and does not allow for a quick, chronological updating of inventory. Automatic updates are not efficient, and RMA's and Quoting are mediocre. As one who was a beta tester for this software, I can say they only improved upon one thing that I and others no doubt had asked for; character length increases on part numbers, etc..

[12/31/2008]  We have been using ESC for eight years. It does a great job as a stand alone program, but I would like to see a much better integration with QuickBooks. With the present QuickBooks SDK and all the tools available, the maintenance of separate databases should not be needed. Programs that just talk to each other is not my idea of integration.

[09/10/2008]  I love ESC.. It is the best. I am now able to process credit cards through my mobile device. I do not even have my techs come to the offices anymore. All their dispatches are sent to their PDA's or laptops. Very User Friendly. Support is top notch, and thanks to Scott, I was up and running in no time. We call him our SUPER TECH!

[05/01/2008]  I deal with quite a few dispatch software companies, and this is the only one I could find that Integrates so well with QuickBooks and the ease of use. The smooth transition from entering the customer, entering the dispatch, working with the dispatch board and entering in Invoices is very simple but very advanced. Highly recommended for anybody that needs dispatching software.

Not a "real time" field service solution

[12/12/2006]  This software is under the wrong category of “Field Service”. The field mobile portion of the software is not rightly real time.
If your looking for real mobile computing from the field you CAN NOT:
Can not run credit cards.
Can not email invoices.
Can not view the schedule of other techs to swap calls or check progress.
Can not retrieve customer data, such as history, equipment or payment info.
Can not synchronize with the server or quick books from the field, which is a large disadvantage.
To name a few. The interface looks nice, but does not differentiate itself from others I reviewed. The sales agent was helpful and thorough. ESC would appear to be a good “office only” stand alone program. For true mobile computing ESC has just scratched the surface.

[02/24/2006]  This software can help run you business but the features are short sighted. Inventory isn't much more then a picklist. I can't easily see what jobs need inventory parts without looking at each job. Things seem disjointed and take 5 to 10 clicks to get an answer. I don't find many "error" bugs so that has been a good thing. Set up took some time which is to be expected but the manuals and training could be much better.

[04/06/2004]  It's refreshing to obtain "knowledgeable support" when you are faced with challenges. I have called several times, with "advanced" user questions, and the ESC support team never wastes my time with elementary "beginner" questions. ESC technicians understand that "time" is my most precious resource. For example, I was been able to completely re-construct a client's inventory list, in a period of 4 hours, on a holiday! ESC support is not hesitant to provide whatever tools are necessary, to get the job done.

[04/04/2003]  I am the General Manager for a heating and cooling company in Tucson Arizona. When I hired on here I was expecting to have people under my direction to get our day to day things done. To my surprise, we didn't have a dispatcher. I took over that position, using another service database program. Two months later, our bookkeeper quit. Leaving me holding the bag for everything! I fought through the year with the other software, realizing more and more that I was wasting time. I had to import/export to QuickBooks, then the line items wouldn't show up, and support took sometimes two to three days to call me back, made me crazy! The owner of our company and I decided to look for new software. They had just purchased the other one last year at an exorbitant sum! We were very set on a program that integrated with QuickBooks seamlessly and we found it with ESC. We can do almost everything we need in ESC and it will post to QuickBooks in REAL TIME! I am currently running our office with a little help from the owner and not needing anyone else at this time. I would recommend this software to anyone. The people at Coastal Computers helped me get our system up and running very well.

I recently dealt with Steve Gordon and it is so comforting to deal with such a knowledgeable and kind person. I have an apprehension when I get into troubleshooting with computers, yet he makes my working on this system a delight. My company has not yet gone "live" with this system but we are moving forward each day and to be quite honest I had nervous feelings about this change. I am moving forward now anticipating no problems and I continually see this software more "user friendly.”

[01/02/2003]  We have been running ESC for almost 2 years and have never properly used Inventory. Troy in tech support wrote routines to zero balances and close open PO's. The response was lightning fast & the routines ran flawlessly. All of my calls for support have been pleasant experiences, fast return calls with the answer to our problem, a lot more then I can say for my old applications that were replaced by ESC. The ease of use and short training curve add serious value to the ESC software.

[12/20/2002]  While looking for software that would track our road technicians’ billable time, I found there were many to choose from on the market. Since we use QuickBooks for our accounting, the mention of your software and its integration to the accounting side via a QuickBooks server, prompted us to take a closer look at what your company had to offer. Randy Doramus’ initial response to our e-mail for more information, gave us a comfort level with your customer service policies. He was very patient about answering all of our questions. Since that initial contact, your customer service has been validated by your tech support team. Steve, Ray D, Alan, Troy and Mike; each one excels in their knowledge, whether it's in data base, accounting or general application. After our purchase, the integration to our current accounting software was seamless. The customer service maintained its integrity. From Leslie who answers your incoming calls, has all our history at her fingertips and is a pleasure to speak with, to the prompt and patient return call from your support staff. Unfortunately these days, vendors talk enthusiastically about their customer service only to realize after the sale, it can't be found. It is refreshing to find a vendor whose staff shows a genuine sincerity in their approach to the support they offer. Congratulations to the development of your customer service and support policies and the staff that endorses them effortlessly.

[12/18/2002]  I've been dealing with several applications since my first day in this position. I'm so glad that LITE made the right decision to purchase ESC early this year. Not only does ESC meet our need to handle techs in the field efficiently with mobile features, but it also makes the integration with QuickBooks easy. No more double entry is necessary to create reports for our clients. The support from ESC is different from other software vendors I have worked with in the past. It is excellent, especially support technician Steve Gordon. ESC/QuickBooks is the solution for LITE.

[12/11/2002]  Coastal Computer Corporation has service software entitled ESC (Electronic Service Control) that is a wonderful piece of software. Our company researched for quite some time and found this software to have all the features we were looking for. Coastal’s Sales staff was very helpful in helping me to determine if this software would meet all of my requirements. After purchasing the software I had several questions and the technical support is superior to any other support team I have had to deal with in the past. My calls were always quickly returned and I am also given email support that is also answered quickly. The knowledge of the technicians is wonderful, they are all obviously very knowledgeable about their product to include any Microsoft issues that come up. I strongly recommend this product to anyone looking for a service software package. The staff at Coastal has been immensely helpful and I look forward to a long business relationship with them.

We have entered many of our customers in the data base and are increasing the data base daily. The electronic service board is improving our service scheduling and our ability to respond to our customer’s needs is improving with having the customer’s information at our fingertips. The program is proving to be a valuable tool in providing the excellent service to our customers which we strive to achieve. I also want to send praise to the technical support which I have received. I am always pleasantly surprised that a real live person answers the phone when I call Coastal Computer. The staff is pleasant and eager the help me with any problem I my have. The technical staff has responded to my needs in a very timely fashion and they took the time to stay with me until my needs were completely resolved.

[11/19/2002]  I wrote a review about 2 months after purchasing this software and want to update the readers of that review. I have now been using the program for about 9 months and it had been greatly improved during that time. The information provided on Coastal Computer Corp's web site has become more detailed to show exactly what is included and the different versions. The customer support team was extremely helpful when I had to reload the software even though I had not bought the support options. The company seemed to appreciate my suggestions and were concerned by my misunderstanding of what the product included. I have not been treated so well by any other support team. I was able to buy the multi-user version during a special they had and got the upgrade with it. I now love this program more than ever and would recommend it highly.

[05/09/2002]  I want to drop you a note to let you know how pleased we are with the ESC. Electronic Service Control software is great. It is indeed a pleasure to be instep with the rest of the "Windows World". The flexibility we have enjoyed employing ESC has increased our productivity ten fold. No longer am I writing down the customer name, address, and etc. before writing a letter in Word, I simply export and merge the data. The same is true for Excel and Access this is great! Thank you for putting out a great product. Keep the upgrades coming; each version is better than the prior version.

[04/11/2002]  ESC has helped us manage parts of our service company that have been very difficult to get organized in the past. We now collect payment right on the spot with the customer without any double entry using mobile computing. All the information goes into QuickBooks perfectly! We can now do twice the work in half the time. This program is more powerful than others that are 2 and 3 times the cost. Highly recommended!!!

[03/29/2002]  I have been a QuickBooks user for years, but with 7 service trucks, I needed a dispatch system. I was not will to give up all QuickBooks online features (Payroll, Online bank ect.) Now that ESC integrates with QuickBooks I have the best of both. I have been trying to go paperless for years and now with ESC and their mobile software I believe I am on my way. The ESC has giving me great support and follow up Service as well.

[03/29/2002]  I have been using ESC for about 2 months now. It does save me time and written paper work but there are a few things that are not represented correctly in this overview. I can now keep up with the schedule for all of our crews electronically, keep notes with logs of calls on my customers and not have to enter customer information twice as this program sends the info to QuickBooks Pro after I enter it. The downside is that the multi-user options are expensive so only one of my computers has ESC loaded. I have QuickBooks Pro 2002 and was told that jobs listed under a customer would transfer to QuickBooks Pro also, but they do not. In ESC I enter a new location under a customer, and then have to enter a job under a customer in QuickBooks Pro. The customer:job option is not available with ESC. After calling about this to customer support I was told that only came with the deluxe version, which I had not heard of before purchasing. This is a hassle since we are an electrical contracting company that does many different jobs for the same general contractors. The handbook that comes with the demo version is the only instructions you get with this program and they do not cover enough information in my opinion. I felt that the 30 days of free technical support ran out before I had the opportunity to fully answer all of my questions and the support program was very costly, over $400 for a year. These may not be the most important features you are looking for but they are something to consider before purchasing this program. I do enjoy the features that ESC provides and have not been able to find another program that does more. This review is only to clarify that some of the options listed are additional features that you would have to pay extra for.
