[05/04/2004]  The Corecon software has been used by my general contracting company for nearly 3 years and has proven to be a useful asset to the management of my business. The program has helped to create accurate estimates that closely estimate materials and labor hours required to complete a project. As expenses for the projects are entered into Corecon, Corecon has developed a program that swiftly and accurately transfers the data into QuickBooks Pro for bill payment. The Corecon programs have proven to be a valuable asset to my business.

Best construction software out there!

Overall Rating:

[02/02/2004]  Corecon 3.0 is the best software we've ever used. We are a small family company in the DC Metro area. We build single family Luxury homes in the million-dollar range. When we first started we kept paper records and used QuickBooks to do some of our accounting. We then decided to make a jump and invest in another program. Supposedly this program was the best thing out there. We had problems from day one, from the help and instruction we received in setting it up to the lack of help and knowledge when we had problems. This software lost all of our data and almost put us out of business. Luckily we were able to find Corecon. They walked us through the installation and even converted our data for us so we didn't have to start from scratch again. The ease of use in Corecon was the first thing that got our attention. There are no huge learning curves or expert technical skills necessary to use it. We are able to do more things in Corecon and we can do them a lot faster. The integration with QuickBooks helps keep us on top of our accounting and being able to use the Microsoft office programs are huge assets. We couldn’t be happier with the great technical support or this great product.

[01/27/2004]  The people at Corecon understand the needs of the everyday contractor, big and little. They also understand the importance of the diurnal duties of a contractor and how he/she cannot spend a lot of time trying to continuously learn software to run and manage their company. With the accompaniment of QuickBooks this program absolutely can and will do it all. My only regret is that I wasn't using it three years ago. This will give me the advantage over my competition while allowing me to complete twice the amount of work in about half the time. It is a simple job reference based system that requires acquainting yourself with the same procedure for everything from contacts to contracts, and receivables to payables. Over the last 9 years I have spent countless hours and thousands of dollars trying to sort through the information the software I was using before was giving me. Not anymore! Their technical support is second to none, and the training is unsurpassed. Corecon does it only one way... the right way! Simplicity is the key to efficiency and Corecon provides both.

Corecon – Removing the Bottleneck to Future Growth.
brett.wightman@dreamsworthbuilding.com
Overall Rating:

[01/22/2004]  The growth of our general contracting business and millwork shop was at a complete standstill. Our organizational capacity had reached critical size as we were trying to manage our fill of change orders, purchase orders, invoices and timecards while rushing to manage bids and build estimates for potential clients. There was no clear vision of how projects were progressing and who had the most current information. Our accountant was performing autopsies after project completion; sifting through the mass of paperwork in an attempt to build a financial picture of the project. There was no future.

As a trained (PMBOK) project management professional, I knew there was a better solution. We looked for a complete package that would seamlessly integrate all the components that had to be managed on our projects. Our team needed instant, organized information with free access from the initial client contact through final project closeout. Corecon had those answers.

With Corecon and its powerful takeoff database and estimate organization, we have reduced our estimating time from 1-2 weeks to 1-2 days. Our project budgets and costs are managed by the project manager, reviewed and approved by our owner and imported directly into QuickBooks. Information is entered once and used by all. It is simple.

We use Corecon as a selling point to our clients. They are drawn to our company because we sell organization and efficiency. Since the bottleneck as been removed we can take advantage of this new business. The clients like the professional looking reports and detailed invoices. We would never have been able to provide this before.

Corecon makes project management easy. It seamlessly integrates all aspect of our projects; right down through QuickBooks. Corecon brings a clear vision of each project. Now we can handle considerably more work. That makes our owner happy. Thanks to Corecon and QuickBooks.

[11/16/2003]  Before Corecon we used many different applications and programs to perform our project management which made it very cumbersome and difficult to manage. The use of Corecon has streamlined our project management and allowed us to focus on the use of one program. We are a small commercial based contractor and with Corecon we manage our time more efficiently, bid more work, are awarded more contracts, and manage more work than ever before. Corecon has online training videos that are extremely useful and their telephone support is unmatched. The installation of the program is simple and easy. Corecon is a great solution for the contracting business and we thoroughly enjoy using it on a daily basis. Thank you Corecon and keep up the good work!

[11/11/2003]  When we found Corecon we were not looking for construction software that would interface with our accounting software. We decided on Corecon for it's merits alone. Our company was beginning to believe that we would someday soon outgrow QuickBooks as we are a very detailed oriented contractor concerned about accurately tracking job costs and utilizing statistics to improve our "Hit Rate". The link with Corecon has allowed us to use Corecon as the basis for our project management and ties the Project Managers and the Accounting department together through a common link. This link provides for our company to seamlessly control our cash flow and account for our job costs in an organized manner. Corecon's documents professional presentation compliments QuickBooks user friendly program and allows our Controller to handle all of the Accounts Payable through final payment including waivers and insurance certificates. I believe without the link, we would have a higher overhead in the operations department and the accounting department, thereby saving our company close to $200,000 per year in staff. I highly recommend both Corecon and QuickBooks for any size company. It is providing well for us at the $20M to $25M range.

Corecon’s Estimating is Awesome
kkain@wi.rr.com
Overall Rating:

[07/08/2003]  I have been an estimator and project manager for several construction companies in Wisconsin, and recently started my own construction company. I first discovered Corecon about 2 years ago, when Corecon 3.0 first came about. After speaking with the people at Corecon and working with their new product, I knew right away that Corecon was the superior product, both for estimating and project management. On the estimating side, Corecon has delivered many enhancements to the product, which make it a great tool for accurate, detailed estimates. Not only can I build and use my own cost database items for my Corecon estimates, but I can plug in an RS Means Assemblies database for a comprehensive list of unit prices, all organized by CSI. When I bring items into an estimate, I can sort and group by CSI or my own Work Breakdown Structures, to define the phases and locations of my estimate. Corecon has several estimate reports, and I can my estimate to Word, where I can put in my own special language for the customer. When I send out a Corecon estimate, I’m confident about my prices. When I’m awarded the job, my proposal becomes a contract with a schedule of values and job cost codes set up, so I can manage the budget, create subcontracts, Po’s and change orders. The business process in Corecon is a perfect imitation of the construction process. Other documents that I use regularly are the RFI’s, submittals and meeting minutes. Finally, when I’m costing the job, I can track all my expenses, and send out a very professional AIA invoice to my customers. At my own construction company, I don’t have time to spend in front of the computer. I need to get in and out fast, create my reports, and send the job costs out to QuickBooks, where my office manager can manage the bills and invoices. Corecon is everything a small construction company would need. It’s all in one package, there’s no extra modules, and it’s the best thing going for hardcore contractors. I have recommended Corecon to many people, and I continue to do so.

Small Design Build Firm with Big Needs

[06/10/2003]  We are a relatively small Design Build Firm but we have sophisticated needs. Corecon has provided everything we need in one package. It combines estimating, scheduling, project management, and finance management and takes advantage of all the other software we already use; Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook and, of course, QuickBooks. No more double entry of receipts, invoices, etc. We are extremely pleased with the ease of integration of these auxiliary programs. We highly recommend Corecon and the people behind it.

[06/09/2003]  We are a mid-sized general contracting company which uses both self-performing crews and subcontractors. We have a need for customizable contracts and accounting that will allow tracking on a contract or time and material basis. After several years of using custom made Excel and Word templates, we needed an integrated system to improve our efficiency. Corecon has proved to be the answer. Although we are still in the middle of the learning curve, we find the program logical and user friendly. We have reduced our data entry significantly and have much improved cost tracking on our projects. The customer service from the Corecon team has been outstanding. I would buy the program again. We everyone in the office working on the system.

Superb solution at a reasonable price
Controller
Overall Rating:

[02/07/2003]  In June 2002, I was asked by a small general contracting company to find a solution for their project management and accounting needs. The contractor had some very specific requirements: preferably a single program that did not require use of spreadsheets for analysis, ease of use for non-computer users, a variety of sophisticated reports, the ability to provide reports using the CSI coding structure, ability to track change orders, ability to track and report on budget changes, as well as a cost projection capability for “what if” change scenarios. I anticipated a lengthy search to find a product that met all these needs at a price that made sense for this small company, and was pleasantly surprised to find Corecon almost immediately. The construction background of the developers is evident because the program addresses the specific needs of contractors. Corecon compares very favorably with programs designed for much larger companies at much higher prices. As with any installation/conversion project, the initial setup for the program requires a substantial time commitment. The eagerness of everyone on the Corecon team to assist in this process made it easier than other conversions I’ve worked on, and several of my questions about report formats led to commitments from Corecon to integrate changes into the next release. This customer service commitment is both amazing and refreshing! This product provides a project management and cost control solution for contractors at a price reasonable for even small contracting businesses, and the willingness and availability of support from the Corecon team makes even difficult tasks easier to understand and complete. The only drawback we find at this time is the need to export some of the Corecon reports to Excel for analysis in the format we want. With Corecon, I am confident that the information going into the Excel reports is reliable, consistent and up-to-date with all the information available. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

Superior Product For The Price
Mark - Gemin Construction Corp.
Overall Rating:

[01/17/2003]  I am a mid sized General Contractor who has spent a lot of money over the years trying to integrate my project management and accounting functions into one software. Just about every product I tried had fallen far short of my expatiations. Either the software did not work well or was so cumbersome that it was hard to implement. With Corecon using Microsoft Office applications as a platform, it was easy to be up and running with much more ease. It still takes a plan and effort to implement, but the familiarity with Microsoft Office certainly helps. Being a relatively new product there are a few quirks that still need to be worked out. However, the ease of use, the programs integration with QuickBooks, and Wendleware's product service make this a great value for the money.

[11/11/2002]  We have been using Corecon for about a year and find it to be very valuable in the management of our construction business. We have received rave reviews from our customers on the professional appearance of the forms Corecon generates such as the Change Orders. Contact management, both company and contact, helps keep at one's fingertips all customer, supplier, and subcontractor information. With all this information available setting up a job is pretty easy and complete. Maintaining project management with all of Corecon's documents keeps all job information in one place and available to all who use Corecon from President to project manager to office manager whether it be a fax, a request for information or an Email. During the progress of any job Corecon offers many varied and valuable reports on any facet of the job such as time, budget, change orders, and a lot more. One of the reasons we chose Corecon over some competitors was the seamless and virtually paperless document control.

When we were looking for a new construction software package, we were already using QuickBooks but needed a more comprehensive solution for estimating, document control and job costing. Corecon gives us the tools we need to successfully manage our projects and to track our expenses with much greater detail. Corecon and QuickBooks work great for our company.

[11/06/2002]  We are a growing Design Build General Contracting firm that has utilized Quickbooks Pro up to about a $ 10 million volume. We have finally outgrown it because of the lack of integration with subcontracts, purchase orders, and the database of subs & suppliers. We are in the implementation phase of Corecon & love what we have been able to accomplish. It has the potential to be one of the finest software products for contractors of all types, and we are excited about how it is already improving our business!

Best Alternative to High-Cost Construction Management Software
Tricore Group - development and construction experts - State College, PA
Overall Rating:

[11/01/2002]  I own a development company, and recently created a construction arm. I was looking for an integrated software solution for construction management. I was operating 5 different programs (QuickBooks, MS project, Word, Excel and Outlook) and didn't want to spend thousands on a new program that would require multiple hours of data entry, months of training, tech support contracts and a steep learning curve. Corecon was the ultimate solution, integrating MS Office, Project and QuickBooks, into its powerful database/SQL server-driven program. I was able to maintain my present accounting and scheduling systems, integrate my Outlook contacts and QuickBooks’ “customers” and "Accounts" and, I was able to cut and paste "my" Word contracts and subcontracts into their templates. However, Corecon still requires substantial data entry for the first job or two until templates are established, and it is very peculiar about the types of programs with which it will integrate (e.g. one must purchase R.S. Means database to integrate estimating feature (or manually enter data yourself), and M.S. Project for scheduling feature (if you want to use Gantt Charts and PERT analysis and other powerful scheduling features)). Even so, with these additional purchases (and especially if you already have them or don’t need them) the cost of this package is still well below other software solutions that rival the power of this program – if you have done any research, you know the ones to which I’m referring. Downside - still a relatively new product that needs tweaking; complex installation process, woefully inadequate instruction manual that doesn't come close to explaining the details, intricacies and strong points of this product, and equally poor help menus for self-motivated users - hours of tech support are a necessity to set up the program and to get your first project started; but this is not unique to Corecon. Nonetheless, much of the program is intuitive to experienced construction managers, plus the software developers seem eager to guide you through their product and incorporate your suggestions in updated versions (support and updates free of charge for the first year!!! - compare that to other Intuit solutions and construction management programs). Tech support is beyond compare - these people really care about their product and clients. When combined with QuickBooks, MS Project and RS means, Corecon offers everything one needs for construction management from inception through occupancy and at an unparalleled price. Update: Corecon has issued a new "Users Manual" that cures the above stated concerns.

[10/31/2002]  We are a General Construction Contractor in business since 1995. Prior to implementing the Corecon package we had no other options than to manage our work with half a dozen separate software programs. Corecon allows us to manage our contacts, bid the work, integrate scheduling, prepare our contracts, managing our subcontracts, administer our job cost accounting, coordinate our change orders and prepare our billing all in one integrated package. Corecon allows us to do a better job completing our work and spend less time administrating. All this with human beings on the other end of the telephone to help. What more can we say about this product, IT WORKS.

Great All-Around CM Software
Gold Coast Enterprises
Overall Rating:

[07/18/2002]  Corecon is an excellent all-around construction management software. I've used many different types of CM software, but Corecon is the best value out there. It has ALL of the features of the larger software company's programs AND it integrates with QuickBooks! The thing I am most impressed with is the customer service. The software is always "growing", so any suggestions / comments are taken directly to the developers and incorporated into the next update. Corecon is also very "forgiving". If you make a mistake, you can usually change it (most software locks your mistakes and you would have to redo what you've been working on). Corecon is also customizable. If you don't like their reports, etc., you can export them to Microsoft Word and modify them. Overall, Corecon has increased my productivity and allowed me to really see where my projects are financially. I couldn't ask for more (but if I did, the folks at Corecon would add whatever I needed to the program!).

Simple, Powerful, and great Support

[07/18/2002]  I run a small architecture/construction company that has three or four residential and commercial projects going at any one time. I researched ten or twelve different packages over the last year and a half, and this was by far the best fit for us. The ease of use combined with the great tech support made the integration fairly painless. The estimating feature is extremely useable - you can do extremely rough very quick estimates and you can do extremely detailed estimates and everything in between, and have a professional presentation instantly in all cases. We are just getting into using Corecon to run projects, but it has already saved us huge amounts of time in our day to day administration. Setting up contracts and subcontracts takes a fraction of the time it used to, and tracking them is automatic (I wouldn't even know how to compare the value of that!). The software so far has been able to accommodate everything I have needed it to do and the staff is available to figure out everything that I haven't been able to figure out myself. They are interested in suggestions and feedback, and are interested in accommodating suggestions. The only drawback at this time for us is the inability to invent new reports (you have to use the included reports), but I understand this is under consideration. We have only used the Corecon Link (the module that transfers information between Corecon and QuickBooks 2002) in testing on a sample file, and so far it seems to work well. We will be implementing that portion soon. Overall it is a well-designed application that balances flexibility and information control extremely well. I would buy this software again.

Corecon Application Suite 3.0

[07/16/2002]  I am the Office Manager for a commercial general contractor in Charlotte, NC. When I started with the company five years ago, I was using QuickBooks for the accounting end and loved it, but we wanted one program that would suffice for both the accounting department and the project management, we looked at several applications and even bought one of the top name brand applications which still didn’t give us the reports or the information that we wanted. We reviewed Corecon last year and ended up purchasing it. With the Corecon Link, I am able to go back to using QuickBooks and import the purchase orders, invoices, and Applications of Payment from Corecon to QuickBooks in a matter of seconds no more trying to keep track of several applications. The project management team can now see where they stand daily on a jobs budget, or check the status of a change order issued to the owner. We have never been able to have a purchase order system in place until Corecon, by using Corecon to enter our purchase orders I am able to tell to the penny what is out there before I get the actual invoices. Sub agreements are easily to issue as well as subcontractor change orders. Corecon has made a difference in our office. I feel so confident now that the reports I print for the owner each week are precise as well as informative.

High Dollar Construciton Management, Reasonably Priced

[07/16/2002]  After spending six months in the QuickBooks Marketplace looking for software that could bring together our estimating, project management, document control, job cost control, and accounting effectively, we finally came across Corecon. This software made sense to us because as a mid-size site work contractor (currently running 8 full crews) we did not need something quite as advanced as Timberline, but needed a lot more than the features QuickBooks gives you. After speaking with the sales rep from Wendlware, we decided to give the software a chance, and ordered it. At first we were a little unimpressed, as the layout for the program controls took a little getting used to if you're not familiar with database software. However, once we became accustomed to the layout the software really shined. The software's estimating module is fantastic, allowing us to perform a generalized estimate when we are strapped for time, and a more detailed estimate for the jobs we really want. The job cost control system works great, allowing us to track all expenditures for a project in one place, and we can actually do something effective with the numbers at the end of the project. Overall, the software is wonderful. There are areas that need improvement, but new versions are continually being released and each one address concerns that we have brought up with the developers. The people of Wendlware have treated us very well, and they have provided solutions to every problem we have encountered so far. I would highly recommend this software to anyone in the construction business.
