FAQ's
Why are TomTom navigation units needed to use this application?
SmartRoutes is programmed to push Routes as Itineraries into TomTom units, and the TomTom units then provide the dynamic navigation for the driver. This is far superior to creating and manually printing static driving directions in Yahoo! Maps, MapPoint or other software.
Are there volume discounts for using large numbers of TomTom units with SmartRoutes?
Yes, contact Advantage at sales@advantagequickbase.com for info. on higher volume use, and for referral to a TomTom reseller to provide the units and hardware support for commercial use.
Will the application work with other GPS navigation units?
Not presently. It only works with select TomTom units, because it has to use a special TomTom API to communicate with those units.
Do the TomTom units need to be connected to a pc to get the routes transmitted into them?
Currently yes, they are connected by the USB cable provided with the TomTom units. Wireless transmission is in our product roadmap though.
