[11/14/2009]  This was fraud from start to finish. They sold the software with a contract to implement it, but they never had the time. They also didn't have the time to answer their phones or return calls or emails. They had the time to take my money and run! I now have software that can't be implemented, sold or refunded. I could have bought a car for my kids with the money I spent on this mess. Don’t waste your time or money with these criminals!

[09/09/2009]  It looks good on their demo page. I have had two people come in to set up this program for my business and both of them said it's not worth it. No hard copy owner’s manual. You can only get it online with the program. If you need support they operate only on east coast time. I also found out that if you don’t buy their support or updates before it expires, you have to buy the whole program AGAIN!!! If you’re on the west coast their classes are in the early morning. My advice is to keep looking for another software program. My software is over a year old for two computers and it still doesn’t work!

There are plenty of options out there, some were extremely expensive and had way too much product that made it complicated to use. Finally we came across Service CEO, after reading the product info and checking out the website, we finally committed to the product in December 2007. To be honest, I was intimidated. I never really worked with software systems before other than standard programs such as word or excel. I was pleasantly surprised at the tutorials, they did help a lot. We found it to be a lot easier than expected to start using the system. In less than a week we were up and running, as with computers and software there is a learning curve. [12/11/2008]  We've been using ServiceCEO since 2006 and are pleased with it. We looked at other offerings and felt Insight Direct offered the best solution for us. The key to starting off right is proper implementation. The more time you spend here will payoff in the long run. It might not be a bad idea to invest in a couple of hours of personal training from one of their trainers. It will get you up to speed much more quickly and help customize it to your needs. We work to improve our systems and infrastructure on a daily basis and ServiceCEO is no exception. Small changes in how we utilize the software has helped us be a better company along the way. It's just like anything else; you get out of it what you put into it. Looking back over three years of using the software I would invest in it again.

[11/21/2008]  We got this a year ago hoping we finally found the solution to our multiple needs (dispatching, scheduling appts, client database...) this seemed to have it all. Many issues arose that were tied to the 6.01 edition, once they did an upgrade; a lot of those problems went away. However, we only got new ones and more of them. We've spent all of our customer service minutes fixing CEO's problems. It’s been nine months since we began using ServiceCEO and we're very unhappy with the software. Major problem: can't run a simple client mailing list, it duplicates all of our clients 2, 3 times in the list so we have to go through all 309 of them manually to remove the extras. Not worth the $2000 we spent. Only good thing: customer service people are nice but they will charge your account if they can in any way for software glitches. Not meant for animal care/ pet care companies. This software seems to be geared towards maid services, computer companies. We found this very hard to set up and no hardcopy manual was provided. You must print an online version that happened to be outdated.

[11/03/2008]  I have had Service CEO since 2004, and it has been the best and more flexible client management application I have every used. I am owner and president of Fit Essentials, a fitness and wellness company. We provide fitness center management & staffing solutions for business, personal training, employee wellness, and online fitness programming. My cousin, who owns a very successful pest control company, introduced me to Service CEO and said it was like a one-stop-shop solution. He was right. After purchasing the application it was more than I expected. I really needed an application that could store all my customers [and potential clients] info and also provide invoicing capabilities. With Service CEO I can input all my customer’s and lead’s information; track communications in the notes section; input numerous location under one customer (which is particularly significant and unique, since we create strategic partnerships); store all my services and their corresponding rates; link customer files to word documents for convenient review; invoice (with the ability to save invoices as Word documents for modifications); and so much more. Ironically when I contacted the sales rep for Service CEO in 2004 he did not understand why I [personal trainer] need such a sophisticated program since they had never sold an application to a fitness professional. Once I explain we provided more than personal training services and our customer dynamic and relationships was similar to that of a general contractor or pest control company, he began to realize our needs and the rest is history. It has been almost five years since I purchased Service CEO and I have not found any other application that compare. It is an application that grows with a business and seems to always outdo itself.

[10/17/2008]  I find it difficult to understand why so many people have problems with ServiceCEO. Our experience could not be further from this. Yes we have had to give time to implementation and yes it was challenging to our business practices and our staff but what a result. Anything worth having is not easily had and so it is with ServiceCEO. It takes time, patience and concentration to achieve the desired end but tell me any good business practice that does not require the same. We have found ServiceCEO consultants and backup to be excellent and economical. You must work hard in the background so that when you go on the phone to them you can make best use of the time for which you are paying but overall the whole implementation cost a fraction of what other companies wanted to charge us.

[09/26/2008]  I have been a user for over 3 years. This software allows my company located in multiple states control over our entire inventory, mobile invoicing, time cards and more with ease. I did not originally take as much time as they suggest in setting up the initial database. I wished to kind of test it out. The mobile features had some initial kinks but these where quickly worked out. After a few months when I was sold on ServiceCEO, I spent a lot more time serializing our inventory, integrating mail merge, improving customer tracking, and creating some customized reports. Today, the software has grown with our company and the support is awesome. I think the knowledge base at times could pull up better search results but more often than not, if there is a knowledgebase article, support will respond with that prior to charging my support account. The credit card integration is seamless too and the rates are far better than that we had with QuickBooks previously. Also the exportation into QuickBooks works very well. If I had it all over to do again I would still choose ServiceCEO. However, I would do the following: 1. Plan on integrating all areas from the start, I thought I would just use a few. 2. Attend the online training before beginning, or do the training with a test database. I made a few mistakes, not attending the training first. 3. Keep a log of all questions and attend the online question classes, this is invaluable. 4. Plan your strategy with tomorrow in mind, that is try not to keep your company status quoi but set up the software with your ideals…it will perform. I would recommend ServiceCEO to any small business that needs flexibility and invoicing that goes beyond the limitations of QuickBooks. For the price it is a great value. I know I have looked at several.

It took me longer to set up than I anticipated, but once it was up and running it made my life a lot better. I did have to change the way I did some things, but in the end some of the changes were an improvement. Half of the work was getting my employees to change but now they love it.

[09/18/2008]  We bought this in Jan. 2008. The person who sold it to us mentioned: this is not an easy software to implement and learn. Seriously, it is very, VERY hard to use and they are very much lacking in technical support. While everyone I talk to is nice, I feel like they are just reading from some out of date, lacking information manual. (lots of "I think that's the answer, type responses...") While I still hold on to the notion that we'll get this working, By God... as the cost wasn't cheap and I'm determined. But I wont recommend this to anyone who doesn't have the time to learn it (and the videos they provide don’t really help) and I mean learn it, top to bottom... or has some tech help. Not easy to use or user friendly for non-tech people. Good for those who know how to manipulate software and can think outside the box.

[06/19/2008]  I bought this 6 months ago. I'm a fairly tech-savvy person but configuring and implementing this to fit my business was pretty impossible. Tech support is basically non-existent. I finally ended up hiring a consultant to help me - at least it's $120 an hour instead of $150 which is what the tech support charges. Yeah, they have all these videos and classes and stuff but they didn't apply to my business. I think it's going to be pretty good if I can ever really get it going. But just be aware that you are ON YOUR OWN with getting it going and it is NOT something intuitive that you can just figure out. Plus, I have to say that it's NOT wonderful. There are a LOT of quirks - just sloppy stuff that could probably be fixed with just a few lines of code but I'm not holding my breath. And it's not NEARLY as customizable as they led us to believe. For example, they said there were 25 customizable fields. Well, yeah...but only 5 of them are in customer records, where I actually need them. And they rush through the demo so fast, you hardly get to see anything. But nothing is perfect.

They still have not updated the software to work with QuickBooks 2008, Canadian version. The software did nothing to what they said it would do. [01/29/2008]  We switched to Service CEO in hopes of tracking our inventory a little better. There is not a single person in our company that was happy with this program. It is ridiculously expensive, the interface is entirely convoluted and unintuitive, and simple processes like assigning inventory to a given project can take you to three or four separate stages of redundancy. In order to guide you through the counter-intuitive steps of doing anything useful with this software, they offer very expensive phone support, and as a bonus cost to you, you are required to pay an astronomical fee every year or lose your right to pay for said phone support or receive updates. It seems to me that this product is a cash cow for somebody, but it is certainly not good for your business. Would you like to print statements for customers that have outstanding bills? You will need to open each customer's profile, check the "print Statements" box, print the statements, and then open every one of those customer's records up again to uncheck the box so it doesn't print one next time around. Never have I been so frustrated with software, and never again will I use this product.

[11/24/2007]  I have tried and tried for two years with this program to no avail. When I purchased the program I simply wanted a way to send a statement at the end of the month to my customers. The reports that came with the software are not laid out in a good format. They use Crystal Reports and if you do not know how to manipulate these reports around yourself than you will have to pay extra for the techs at CEO to build you a custom one. (cost $300.00 and up). After I paid for there so called custom report and "many months" of CEO techs sending me different reports and my customers still constantly calling in with complaints, I gave up and I am moving on. I would not recommend this software to anyone. I have personally wasted two years and many un-happy customers on this product.

[10/19/2007]  I have been using ServiceCEO since 2005 for my chimney sweeping company. I was originally very happy with the product and still am as far as functionality. My only complaints were that you couldn't schedule by zone or optimize routes in an effective manner. It also dumps the financial data to QuickBooks by making ServiceCEO a customer in QuickBooks. The result is that half the reports in QuickBooks are useless because it only shows as one customer. The custom report feature in ServiceCEO is impossible for a normal business owner to use effectively. It is the customer service side of the application that has made me switch to a competitor's product. Read the pricing and maintenance information very carefully. It seemed to our company that some of the policies felt like a form of extortion. Now, I know that most companies have similar maintenance pricing etc, but ServiceCEO seems to have taken a very hard line approach in regards to maintenance minutes and pricing. The price of the product itself has also sky rocketed to a point where the value no longer meets the price asked. There are too many alternatives out there for me to be able to recommend this to any small business owner.

[08/02/2007]  Good sounding software our company could not implement it after 100+ hours of trying. Paid over $3000 for nothing We are a security alarm company with one office, 7 technicians, annual sales 1M+. We use QuickBooks 5 user and were looking for a work flow, scheduling and CRM program. I looked at software from 50K – 599.00 and went with Service CEO. They have a great web site and sales team. We did the Data Conversion and company setup but, when we started trying to actually generate proposals and work orders we ran into problems. When you propose a job with 50 or so pieces of equipment you will be required to transfer the inventory from your warehouse to the technician’s truck one piece at a time that is 50 individual “clicks” for one job. Once we understood that that would be required on all jobs (about 3-6 a day with over 150 items) We pulled the plug on using it. Also, recurring invoicing for our monthly customers were required to be a “job” and cluttered up the calendar with over 1000 jobs per month. Not happy that we wasted our time and money on this program.

[07/05/2007]  After a failed license and never being able to use the program I tried to get the company to credit me my time not used and continue with the subscription. They would not agree on even offering my money back toward the existing subscription. I have many phone calls without return calls or promised return phone calls from their supervisors. The last time I talked to them they told me to submit a letter to quit billing my bank account and I was not entitled to a refund. I am now in contact with a lawyer to get my money back. This seemed like a credible company. But beware if they have trouble getting the system initially running!

[05/26/2007]  This software is a no brainer...., after switching from a software package that was an export/import format (kind of compatible), to CEO. Wow is my life easier, we enter approximately 15-20 invoices per day. The transfer is seamless, as well as fairly automatic (Point and Click). It even has some excellent error detection built in. Meaning that if something goes wrong, it finishes what it can, and leaves out the offending transaction, BUT instead of crashing the whole transfer....it finishes the remainder of the transactions, and simply excludes the transaction that caused the problem. This means that "finding your problem" is much easier than what is normal (crash the whole transfer). Setup of the connection to QuickBooks is a breeze. You can open the Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks with ease. The Help files in CEO are very straight forward. Even adding different charges in CEO, then setting up those charges to point to QuickBooks is very straight forward. Another neat feature is that you can get as detailed as you want in pointing your Product List/Service List to a VERY detailed Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks. This truly is where the power of the transfer shines. As a CPA I track very specific performance objectives for my service technicians. Additionally, I have very specific budget objectives for revenues compared to previous years. As a result I can use the reporting capabilities of QuickBooks and Excel to track those objectives. After watching the videos I decided it was exactly what I needed to streamline my scheduling. Since implementing ServiceCEO, I only have to use one program and the export to QuickBooks is easy! Once I got everything set up, I realized that ServiceCEO was so much more than a scheduling program. I am now running my business solely through ServiceCEO and integrating with QuickBooks Pro. [12/17/2006]  I have been a QuickBooks user since QuickBooks 6.0 (About 1998) QuickBooks is a great accounting program and very user friendly, it just did not allow me to stay in complete control of my Plumbing and Heating Service business. So I began searching for software that would, I looked at about 20 different programs some even claiming they could replace the accounting portion of my business. I spent about 3 months researching different programs, narrowed my search down to a few. ServiceCEO being one of them. By this time after talking with my accountant I had decided I wanted a program that would integrate with QuickBooks, because all accountants can use the data from QuickBooks and I already knew how to use it. (Why learn an entire new program?) I narrowed my search down to 2 programs, one of which allowed for a demo, and the other ServiceCEO. I was having a very hard time making a decision so I asked a friend who writes software programs for large companies to take a look at both of them, and he recommended from a programming stand point ServiceCEO. I made the decision and here it is 2 years later and I am still impressed. The support for this product is great, if you have an issue, or a feature they really listen. It is very easy to use, I was using basic features of the software within about a week. Advanced features allow so many different options they took a little longer to get used to. All in all I am very pleased with Insight Direct and the ServiceCEO program, for the money you will not find a better program to run a Service business. The main advantage is that it has been a tremendous time and money saver. If we had not switched to this software, we would have had to hire another employee for the office. Our decision to choose Service CEO was one of the best decisions we made. In 4 short years we have become AZ's largest residential cleaning service, with an average of 40 cleaners every day. Service CEO makes it a breeze to create custom schedules. Payroll is a snap, especially with the latest payroll improvements and with over 1000 sales a month, only a couple mouse-clicks transfers all of our sales and bank deposits directly into QuickBooks, saving us over a huge amount of accounting payroll. With the Microsoft MapPoint interface, 2 clicks of the mouse and we have a map showing the location of every job for the next day which makes dispatching a snap. I can't imagine life without Service CEO!

One of the requirements we had was that the new software interface with QuickBooks. This is because most of our franchisees were utilizing this financial package already. Service CEO integrates flawlessly with this product and many others. I can't say enough for the support and training available, SCEO is a very robust offering and you must be willing to devote a reasonable amount of time to learning all that it can do. Thank goodness for their online and CD training that helps make the transition significantly less traumatic. I like these guys and I love their product. The equipment tracking is simplistic and cumbersome - I can manage it more efficiently on paper. The company tells you that the program works for any service industry but that isn't the case.

[11/08/2006]  I've been using ServiceCEO for over 3 years and I'm still amazed at what it's done for me. When ever my power goes out it reminds me of how truly important this software is. I have very unique business processes and I am able to modify ServiceCEO to fit those processes. The reason I'm writing today is that I wanted to set up some unique billing in which I can split one job over multiple invoices and in another case put 3 or 4 jobs on the same invoice. Their support showed me the advance billing feature and I'm blown away. Keep up the good work.

In addition, the support is 24/7 and very helpful. They have online, real-time training classes for all members, a library of videos, huge knowledgebase, forums... everything you need to get support.

[11/07/2006]  After using QuickBooks for our accounting needs we looked into another system for our scheduling needs. As a commercial floor cleaner we have several locations we service on a regular basis. We needed something that would integrate our scheduling needs with our bookkeeping and accounting needs. After careful review we found ServiceCEO. The program caters to what we need and fits perfect with QuickBooks. It was easy to setup and data transfers between the two accurately and efficiently. ServiceCEO saves us time in scheduling and invoicing. QuickBooks and ServiceCEO answer many of our small business questions and together they have helped streamline our operations.

[10/20/2006]  I have used Insight Direct's products for over 10 years now and have seen the current ServiceCEO product evolve into a masterpiece. Before I installed the original MaidWorks product, I was using Excel databases, manual records and schedules and QuickBooks. What a headache this created trying to tie everything together along with lots of lost and incomplete records. I sampled 2 other scheduling systems and found them to be hard to use from the input aspects as well as they still only handled a portion of either the scheduling or record keeping process. Then I found the Insight Direct product and I've been a happy user/owner ever since. The current version of ServiceCEO is very easy to install and the tutorials that are provided are easily understood even by someone with very little computer experience. The support functions both online and through Tech Support are easily understandable and accessible. The basic system is very intuitive and self explanatory. Once you have input some very basic client information, your scheduling and follow up functions are a breeze. When appointments are made, you can determine or provide everything the field people need to know about a client and remote access is also available. When appointments are completed, the system does your basic bookkeeping functions for you to track the money, handle the payroll, inventory and any receivables that may be due. The system then can link to QuickBooks if you want which is a very handy feature for tracking finances ServiceCEO can be as easy to use as you want it to be and there are lots of whistles and bells that can be used as needed for any degree of sophistication that you can require for running a business. These include ways of contacting clients, revenue reports, marketing data and various other reports. I have had a few problems with the system that required me to have to call Tech Support for help. Most of the times it was not a problem with ServiceCEO but some form of my hardware breaking down or a Windows glitch. The techies were kind and walked me through or did whatever needed to be done in a timely and proficient manner to get me up and running. For a very non-technical person like myself, this was very much appreciated and handled very well. ServieCEO is a wonderful product for anyone who has to work with schedules or runs a small business. It save me countless hours of bookkeeping, make records easily accessible and gets the job done with minimal effort. I've recommended it to several other service business owners. The criteria we used in judging an application included: Ease of use, customer tracking, work order generation and completion, and integration to QuickBooks. ServiceCEO fit our model perfectly. The rollout to our organization has been nothing short of fantastic. We sent ServiceCEO out to 30 locations throughout the US and Canada in a 3 month span. Insight Direct has been with us every step of the way. I highly recommend ServiceCEO to anyone growing their company and are looking for an effective avenue to manage that growth!!

[08/07/2006]  We have been using the Service CEO program for about 3 years and have been very pleased with how it has worked for our company. The invoicing, scheduling and route sheets are a breeze compared to what we were doing before. Also it has integrated well with QuickBooks. We have enjoyed participating in the on-line classes, which were very helpful, especially when we were first learning the program and when we needed more specific technical help, the solutions and/or instructions were easy to follow and implement. It has been very helpful keeping track of recurring customer schedules (they don't slip through the cracks) and having the zone feature on the calendar has helped schedule customers in the same area thus saving time and fuel. And we LOVE the Dispatch board and it's uses.

[06/06/2006]  We've been using ServiceCEO for two 2 years, and as an IT person, it is as open and flexible as you can get. We tried our own Access calendar and another program, but decided on CEO because it met our needs the best. We've been able to design our own invoices and internal reports. There is a learning curve, but they have online classes and discussion boards for free, and decent support and consulting. (We've used support occasionally, but we’ve received fast responses, mostly on the mark). No other application we've seen allowed us access to change the crystal reports, and they will soon offer an API to automate order entry. We're a janitorial company in Illinois, and recently expanded to the Florida market. ServiceCEO solutions have allowed our managers access at both locations, and custom reports on the health of our business.

Time Savings with QuickBook Integration

[04/05/2006]  In late 2005 the company was still using a DOS based software package to keep track of generate and track work orders as well as creating invoices. All financial data that we wanted to track in QuickBooks had to be double entered from the closed work orders and invoices once they were paid. This took a lot of time and we were in need of a program that would allow us to integrate with QuickBooks for our financial data. Service CEO fit the bill, since we have been using the program we have enjoyed the benefits of integrating our receivable data from Service CEO as the invoices are paid into QuickBooks. We have enjoyed a huge time savings as a result of this. Our invoices have also took on a more professional look as a result of the Crystal Report feature in designing our invoices. All in all, our use of Service CEO integrating with QuickBooks has been successful and we would recommend it highly to another company.

[03/16/2006]  This software is difficult to learn, very cumbersome to use and poorly documented. Their support is billable after the first 3 hours and it is basically an answering machine. Importing from QuickBooks is weak. The program was totally misrepresented and now they refuse to refund our money. I strongly advise AGAINST this product.
