How is Avalara’s AvaTax a complete, end-to-end, sales and use tax compliance solution?
Avalara provides the most accurate end-to-end sales tax automation solutions from the point of sale or invoicing to electronic filing and remittance. Working in real time with the accounting application, AvaTax streamlines the cumbersome calculation and reporting process for millions of businesses while reducing the risk of loss or penalty during an audit. On the filing and remittance end of the process, AvaFile automates the previously manual task of filing returns and remitting payments.

How is your AvaTax solution priced?
The AvaTax service works on a transaction-based pricing model. We define a transaction as any invoice or sales order from which tax is calculated and posted to the general ledger. Please note that the authoritative source for a transaction, or any other contract term for that matter, is Avalara's End User License Agreement. Our suggestion is to purchase an end-to-end compliance package that includes installation as well as AvaFile, our managed returns and remittance service.

How does Avalara handle product taxability and how long does it take to set up?
AvaTax Pro is designed for businesses that have complex taxability rules in many jurisdictions and is our most comprehensive package. Depending on the customer’s needs and the complexity of their business, AvaTax Pro can be integrated in a matter of hours, although typical set-up can take up to 30 days or more. Avalara provides the most comprehensive tax matrix in the market with over 2,400 pre-defined product categories, most of your inventory items should already be in the AvaTax system.

How does AvaTax handle exemption certificates?
Users are able to set up an exempt customer within the AvaTax Administrative Dashboard. The AvaTax Exemption Certificate Management System (ECMS) must also be enabled within the Dashboard so that the tax server will recognize the applicable exempt customers and return a zero tax calculation. You are also able to store exemption certificate information for future references within the AvaTax Administrative Dashboard.
