[04/16/2007]  We have added CNG to our QuickBooks to speed up our productivity and document management. CNG Books allows us to review the actual invoice that was billed. This allows our cost analysis of our homes to run a lot smoother. We are also able to attach all of the documents to the document management portion of CNG Books. This allows us to review all documents associated with this job. No more looking for the missing file that is laying on someone's desk. To have everything attached to the job in QuickBooks we are no longer dealing with everyone labeling the job a different name much easier to find the documents. CNG has also added to their software package for us what they are calling CNG Imports. This allows our largest vendor to email us their invoices, the software then reads it and we no longer have any data entry. No more data entry mistakes and an increase in productivity. What was taking an average of 2 min. per invoice now takes seconds. We are pleased to be working with a great bunch of people at CNG and highly recommend them.

CNG-Books Interface

[04/02/2007]  We have been using CNG-Books for the past three years as our answer to storing images of vendor invoices. We are very pleased with the product. In just a few steps, the invoice image is scanned in, stored, and entered into QuickBooks as a payable. The image can later be viewed through QuickBooks or through CNG-Safe. We can view the invoice at anytime without the hassle of searching through file cabinets or storing the mounds of paper that accumulate over time.

Don't Miss the Metal File Cabinets

[11/04/2005]  I have been using the Cabinet NG software for almost a year now. I really like the CG Filer portion which allows you to take documents right off another source and drop them into CG Cabinet without having to rescan. For example vendors e-mail invoices and I drop them directly into Cabinet. The security options are terrific. I have 2 employees that I allow to review documents only and not edit or delete. I really enjoy the many features. The support staff at CG Cabinets is terrific. They always get back to you in a timely manner and will work through any problems you have. Their live web sessions are really helpful. They give weekly training sessions where often your question gets answered by someone else in the session. This is helpful. They also have a yearly conference where you get excellent training and hands on experience. They have a special time dedicated to QuickBooks users and the program. I would highly recommend this filing program to any company or individual that has many pieces of paper to shuffle around. You won't miss the metal file cabinets.

[11/01/2005]  We have used this product for some time now. I am still unable to use the product by pulling up documents inside of QuickBooks. The initial set up was a very difficult as I had to make many calls to get the system configured satisfactorily. I have emailed for support without a response a number of times. I find that the database is slowing despite being told it needed no maintaining. So I can retrieve documents only through their interface. Scanning into some files takes a very long time and support is marginal.

The best electronic filing system

[07/26/2005]  We were looking for a paperless filing system that was compatible with QuickBooks, and Cabinet NG is the one! In short, we are adding more money to our bottom line in several ways (1) minimizing errors and reducing duplicate payments (2) saving labor on filing invoices and correspondence (3) reducing storage and filing cabinet space and (4) saving time by accessing our documents quicker. Also, because of its flexibility and ease of use, we are able to manage eight separate companies with Cabinet NG moving seamlessly from one company to the next. An additional benefit is that we can securely store all our documents related to each company, vendor or customer in a shared access filing environment which has made us a much more effective company. We are a large Papa John's Pizza franchisee, and the transition period was very smooth and our entire staff sees the benefits of being on the "cutting edge" of document management. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is using QuickBooks. It is well worth the investment!

This is the most comprehensive document management solution we have found that integrates with QuickBooks. It is a front end data entry solution for bills and customer payments that seamlessly integrates by recording the transactions in QuickBooks and filing the electronic document into the Cabinet NG folder as a single process.

The real value in this system is realized with larger organizations (i.e. 5 or more users). The documents are protected and stored on the server with individual users required to log on to retrieve the documents. This is a scalable solution that will provide the document management features most businesses need.

Pros:

Ease of Use – There are many ways to get the information into the system. E-mails can be added with a simple click and drag to a save as field on the task bar in Windows, from anywhere it is possible to choose the “Print to Cabinet NG” printer, and of course it is always possible to scan the document from within Cabinet NG, just to name a few.

Security – This product is designed for a server/work station environment and has security including extensive password protection options available to control access to documents, folders, cabinets, etc.

QuickBooks Integration – It is possible for data entry personnel to create bills, credit card charges and receive payment transactions directly through CNG-Books without redundantly accessing the QuickBooks data file. This eliminates the need for duplicate data entry between managing the document itself and recording the transaction in QuickBooks.

Productivity Enhancement – With Cabinet NG there is no more looking for information that has not been filed, trying to discover who has the file, or finding misfiled information. In addition there is built in workflow features to make routing documents possible.

File retrieval protocol – the concept within Cabinet NG is the same as the “old fashioned” filing cabinet with file folders inside and documents inside that. In addition to the improved search capability available when all documents are stored electronic, the documents can all be stored in their original format making future use easy. By double clicking on a “file folder” in the “cabinet” it is possible to drill down to additional “sub-folders” to provide for like kind documents organization.

Longevity – With more than a decade of experience in providing strategic filing solutions, Cabinet NG has a tested, stable product while continuing to offer feature enhancements to make a good product even better.

Cons:

Cost – This product is most cost effective solution for organizations with multiple users with the commitment to go paperless.

Navigation – As with any product, extensive features can make navigation a little more challenging. Cabinet NG does a good job on making the process as easy as possible. Just remember to use the back arrow until you get to the choice to exit.

QuickBooks Integration – While the QuickBooks integration over all is quite good, there are a couple of issues we noted: With the bills it is not possible to link it to a purchase order, it is also not possible to enter a bill credit, and finally, there is not any automatic recall for the chart of accounts coding on the bills. Fortunately, Cabinet NG is very responsive to constructive feedback and based on previous history, we anticipate seeing these minor points supported in a future release.

Update as of July 15, 2005:

Cabinet NG has just announced a new release that works with QuickBooks without the feature set of the Cabinet NG product. This new release has its own integrated document management file structure.

CNG-Books streamlines QuickBooks data entry and document filing into one consistent and efficient electronic process. Vendor bills, customer payments and credit card statements are brought into CNG-Books as scanned or faxed images. While viewing the image, CNG Books simplifies data entry by synchronizing information directly from QuickBooks using familiar pull down menus. Only the transaction’s unique date must be keyed. This saves time and improves accuracy. With the click of a button, the data is entered in QuickBooks and the image is filed. If a folder does not exist, CNG-Books automatically creates one using the customer/vendor/credit card information obtained from QuickBooks.

CNG-Books even gives you a way of tying transaction specific documents to a previously entered transaction, and general documents to a vendor or customer. This puts all transaction data and associated documents you need about a customer or vendor right at your fingertips – whenever it’s needed.

[03/18/2005]  CNG-Books lets us scan bills, customer payments and credit card expenses, in one easy step, at the same time we enter data into QuickBooks. CNG-Books is an add-on product that integrates QuickBooks with the Cabinet NG document management solution. This solution is easy to use and saves us countless hours in filing and document retrieval time. CNG-Books helps us focus on the business rather than the paper. Initial installation and set-up was straightforward and performed without disrupting our existing procedures. Plus, the office staff is very pleased with CNG-Books’ simple and intuitive user interface. Cabinet NG’s attention to the user’s needs and ability to replicate our unique processes eliminated our initial “resistance to change”.
