[10/28/2004]  I am an end-user as well as a consultant for the STI Tabs3 time and billing system which has an integrated accounting system. However, due to the popularity of QuickBooks, there was a demand to create connectivity from Tabs3 to QuickBooks. Tabs3 will now work very well with its own financial system as well as with QuickBooks. In the past, I discouraged clients from linking their Tabs3 version 10 with QuickBooks because when a client cost was entered, it was recorded in QuickBooks as a journal entry and a check could not be processed. This made using the system for client advances impossible to use. Since most law firms and other professional practice firms are on a Cash Basis, the fee entries are not entered into QuickBooks. The only posting of transactions to QuickBooks required are Cash Receipts and Client Advances. Now with version 11, the link will create a Credit to Accounts Payable and Debit the Client Cost Advanced (or whatever account desired). In QuickBooks a Bill to Pay is created and a check or payment can be made to any valid account which will Debit the Accounts Payable account and Credit whatever bank account desired. I now have many satisfied clients using Tabs3 for their billing and QuickBooks for their accounting.
